What is DLA

Unlocking Your Child's
True Potential

"Every child is born curious, creative, and capable of greatness. Traditional education systems often suppress this genius. DLA restores it."

At Mebban, we believe the problem is never the child — it is the system. DLA is Mebban's signature methodology: a structured, year-long journey that teaches children how to learn, how to think, how to adapt, and how to lead themselves — beyond anything the standard curriculum offers.

  • Built for all grades — from first-time learners to exam-year students
  • Complements school — does not compete with it
  • Driven by mentors, not just instructors
  • Aligned with Kenya's CBC while exceeding its scope
  • Designed around your child's school calendar
The DLA Framework

Five Layers of Advantage

DLA is not a single subject. It is a layered methodology — each layer building on the last, creating a whole child.

01

Academic Foundation

Solid grounding in literacy, numeracy, sciences and humanities — mastered through active reading, mind mapping, and proven retention techniques.

02

Skill Infusion

Digital literacy, communication, problem-solving, financial literacy, and critical thinking — skills that outlast any single examination.

03

Entrepreneurial Practice

From Grade 4 upward, learners create, test, and grow real projects — developing enterprise thinking, initiative, and a bias toward action.

04

Life Coaching & Character

Emotional intelligence, resilience, goal-setting, time mastery, and self-belief — built through the Jijue–Jijenge five pillars of personal growth.

05

Career Pathway Readiness

Aviation awareness, leadership exposure, ICT fluency, entrepreneurship, and higher education preparation — a real head start before college.

What DLA Builds

Six Ways DLA
Transforms Your Child

Each dimension develops a different aspect of the whole child — from how they think to how they feel, communicate and lead.

01 — Cognition Critical thinking

Critical Thinking & Creativity

Inquiry-based learning and structured problem-solving that go well beyond what the standard curriculum demands. Children learn to question, explore and create — not just memorise.

02 — Mastery Study strategies

Effective Study Strategies

Mind mapping, active reading, the Cornell method, spaced repetition — your child learns the tools that make study sessions shorter, smarter and far more effective.

03 — Systems Time management

Time Management & Habits

The Pomodoro technique, time blocking, SMART goal-setting and habit architecture. Skills that serve them in Grade 4, in Grade 12, and every year of adult life beyond.

04 — Character Mentorship

Personalised Mentorship

Your child will have mentors — not just instructors. People who see potential where others see problems. Each mentor provides guidance aligned to the child's specific growth journey.

05 — Intelligence Emotional intelligence

Life Skills & Emotional Intelligence

Communication, leadership, resilience, adaptability and self-awareness. The skills that determine success in relationships, careers and life — skills no exam can measure.

06 — Future Future readiness

Future Readiness

Digital awareness, entrepreneurial thinking, career exposure, creativity and problem-solving. Children built for the world as it is — and as it is becoming.

For Parents

What Parents Notice Most
After DLA

Parents tell us these are the changes they see at home — usually within the first few weeks.

  • Noticeable improvement in focus, motivation and self-organisation at home — without being told to study

  • Better communication, more confident conversations and stronger social interactions with peers and adults

  • Regular progress feedback — parents always know how their child is growing through every session

  • A programme that fits around school, not against it — no added stress, only added capability

  • Children learning to set goals, manage time, and take responsibility for their own learning journey

  • Mentors who genuinely invest in each individual child — seeing potential where others see problems

Beyond Grade 12 — Post-Basic Students Welcome

DLA's methodology does not stop at Grade 12. Post-basic students — including those preparing for college entrance, career transitions, or personal development — can access adapted DLA sessions. The same framework of critical thinking, study mastery, life skills, and mentorship applies at every stage of learning. Contact us to discuss a tailored pathway.
